The billets used in the production of special-shaped steel pipes are called tube billets. Qualified tube blank is a prerequisite for the production of special-shaped tubes. The strict technical requirements are put forward for the quality of the tube billet. The tube blank technology is implemented according to relevant standards, including chemical composition, section shape, geometric size, internal organization, mechanical and other factors. According to the perforation square, the tube rolling method and the tube material, the following four kinds of billets are generally used for special-shaped steel pipes:
(1) Rolling billet
It is generally round billet and is often used in production.
(2) Forging blanks
It is used for the production of alloy steel with poor perforation performance and high alloy shaped pipe.
(3) Continuous casting round billet
The continuous casting round billet has the characteristics of low cost, less energy consumption and stable microstructure, which is the mainstream of the development of the billet and the primary condition for the realization of continuous rolling.
(4) Casting blanks
The main square ingot is used for P.P.M rolling method or pressure piercing and other special-shaped tube processing methods.
